Ecologists

What is an ecologist? What do they do?
An ecologist is a scientist who studies how plants and animals interact with their environment. They conduct surveys to collect information about the numbers of organisms, and write reports and issue recommendations.  They carry out environmental impact assessments. They analyze and interpret data, using specialist software programs. They can study in the wild in Africa or they can study in the science lab.

How Much do they make? Where do they work?

The average ecologists income is $52,000 a year.

Ecologists can work in a variety of places. Some work out in the wild, land or water. They can also work in labs or in a community with government officials who develop policies. Others work in offices in which they analyze data and create computer models.

How you can become an ecologist and help the world:
You can go to UMass - Lowell if you want to get a degree in ecology. You can also go to the University of Chicago or Rockland Community College. You would need to take chemistry, biology, and physics. Depending on what type of ecologist you want depends on what degree you need. You might need a Ph.D., Bachelors, or Masters degree. Ecologists can help the world because they can find a plant that no one has discovered yet and it could be the cure for cancer.
